The post-match thoughts of the Redcar boss after a 3-0 victory over Seaham Red Star.
Carl Jarrett gave in to the old cliche of ‘a win is a win,’ as Redcar Athletic collected another three points against a typically stubborn Seaham Red Star.
The boss admitted the Steelmen were again for from their best amidst sporadic showers on the Redcar seafront, pleased to see halftime changes reap the deserved reward of three points come the final whistle.

Forced to make more changes to a once settled team, Carl Jarrett faced yet another dull first period, questioning whether either side played to their full potential.
“I didn’t think they troubled us in the first half.” He said. “They didn’t have a shot on target I don’t think, and I’m not sure we did either.”
“I thought we had a lot of the play. It was quite hard against that wind.
“They (Seaham Red Star) had the wind in the first half, so they tried to play a little more direct. We tried to be direct into Brad, and try and work off him.”

Our report as Redcar Athletic return to the top of the table with victory over Seaham Red Star.

After a rather uninspiring first half, Jarrett made a bold tactical switch at the interval, opting to move central defender Danni Lay to a forward role.
The change proved a catalyst for much brighter play from the Steelmen, goals from Nathan Guru (we think), Joe Taylor and Oscar Fletcher seeing out a jump back to top spot on the night.
“Things didn’t work in the first half, so we changed things up at half time.” He said. “We put the big centre half up top, Danni, and obviously that worked for us.”

“I thought he was excellent when he went up top. We played some good football.”
Recent talk dominated by injuries, Jarrett admitted he was pleased to have a number of key figures back on the grass this evening, Craig Gott making his competitive debut for the club, as Mark Anderson and Jack Blackford entered play from the bench.
He said: “The thing I was most interested in was getting through the ninety without picking up an injury.”
“We’ve been able to play some of the lads who’ve been out for a while, like Jack Blackford and ‘Sparky.’ Obviously, ‘Gotty’ got a start tonight.
“It’s nice to get them minutes ahead of training on Thursday, and then looking at Saturday against Blyth.”

The boss concluded: “It’s another three points, and of course another win. That’s all I keep saying, it doesn’t matter how you play, or how you pick up points, as long as you get a win at the end of the day.”
