Craig Gott and Oscar Fletcher picked up fresh injuries on Tuesday night.
Redcar Athletic Manager Carl Jarrett offered an update on the fitness of a number of key players, a Tuesday night trip to Thornaby adding to existing concerns.
The boss revealed fresh doubts for both Craig Gott and Oscar Fletcher, the midfield duo withdrawn from play inside the hour at Teesdale Park.
A return to the frustrations of last season, Carl Jarrett lamented a number of fresh injury concerns with but a week to go before the start of the campaign.
Craig Gott was forced to leave the field of play within the opening exchanges – somewhat of a precautionary measure – his replacement Oscar Fletcher soon caught from behind in a reckless challenge, and also withdrawn.
“I don’t know what’s going on at the minute.” Jarrett professed.
“I had to bring ‘Gotty’ off within 15 minutes because he’s got a bad calf. Oscar’s then been clipped. It looked bad, but I don’t know how bad it is yet.”
“I’m hoping, with him being a young kid, he can almost jump up and crack on with that.” Jarrett continued.
”Fingers crossed.”
Fresh concerns for the two midfielders come on top of a number of existing issues, the Redcar boss relieved to have some key figures back for the weekend visit of Holker Old Boys.
“I didn’t use Curtis tonight,” he said, “even though he’s somewhere near.”
“He should be okay for Saturday. I’ve got ‘Sparky’ coming back too.”
“So yeah, there’s a couple coming back, but I’ve definitely lost ‘Gotty for Saturday, might lose Oscar too.
“I just can’t wait for pre-season to be over.”
