The boss offered his thoughts on victory at the Westmorland Flooring Stadium.
Carl Jarrett praised his Steelmen for a gritty performance in Cumbria, winning 2-0 against play-off chasing Kendal Town.
Adam Boyes and Curtis Round scored either side of the break to seal the three points.
The Redcar boss labelled the trip to the Westmorland Stadium the toughest of nine remaining games in the build-up, so was understandably delighted to see his aide grind out a win.
It’s a result which takes the Steelmen ten points clear at the top of the Northern League table, and in the words of Carl Jarrett, leaves eight ‘cup finals’ to come on the road to promotion.
“I knew it was going to be that sort of game tonight.” He said. “I’ve been involved in football long enough now, I’ve seen these teams before.”
“Kendal (Town) are a very, very, very good team. Jimmy (Marshall) has them set up right, like I said before the game.
“I knew everything about them. I knew what they would try and do. They’ve got the home crowd, and they’re very good on this pitch. It’s massive, by the way.
“They were excellent tonight, Kendal. Our lads just dug so deep, and we showed a different side to us. One I knew we had, I see it in training, week in and week out.
“It’s okay scoring eight and five and three, and another eight, but to me, coming away on a Tuesday night, travelling two hours, putting in a gritty performance like that, and winning two-nil away from home? It’s just so good.
“I’m so happy about that result. These are a good team, and I can see why they’ve picked up some good results at home.
“I can’t praise our lads enough! I’ve got some that are leaving work at five o’clock. To put that in perspective, two hours later, he’s kicking a ball on the other side of the country. It takes some doing.
“I think we’ve got about eight games left. They’re all cup finals now. We’ve got Tow Law back at home on Saturday.
“We’ve got a couple of niggles after that game, we’ll have a look, give them a rest on Thursday, and go again on Saturday.”
