The First Team boss praised the attitude of his side in a 5-1 victory over Whitby Town.
Redcar Athletic boss Carl Jarrett hailed an excellent performance from his squad, as a resounding victory over Whitby Town served as a warm welcome back to Green Lane.
The Steelmen racked up five goals across another 90 minutes of pre-season action, both a step up in terms of preparations for the coming campaign, and a statement of intent.
The rain lashing down on a bitter Green Lane in typical July fashion, goals from Chay Liddle and Adam Boyes saw Redcar in the happier at the half.
Former Seasider Bradley Fewster stole the headlines when play resumed, sealing the match ball with a well-taken treble, sandwiching a Nathan Thomas consolation for the visitors.
Pleased with not only the result, but the performance, Carl Jarrett lauded his players mentality, arguing the standard of play was levels above a Thursday night trip to North Shore Academy.
“The lads played really, really well today.” He said. “I was honestly delighted with the performance.”
“Leading off Thursday night, the performance wasn’t the greatest, even though we beat Billingham Town.
“The preparations were much better today. Obviously, the facilities and the pitch being better helps, and the lads professionalism going into games in pre-season.
“Today just shows how good we can be.”
A shock result for many following along from home, or even lining the terraces, Jarrett admitted the challenge of Whitby Town was one he and the team had been looking forward to.
The First Team Manager labelled the bout a ‘big game’ for the club, and thus, a ‘big’ result.
Jarrett said: “We’ve been ticking along in pre-season leading up to this one. We knew it was going to be a big game for us against Whitby Town, two leagues above us.”
“I thought we played some good stuff. We scored some good goals, had some good individual play as well.
“I’m delighted for Brad, he’s got his first hat-trick there at Green Lane, and against his former club. He’ll be over the moon with that.
“I think it was all about our attitude, and how we were going to go into that game after Thursday night.
“I thought they were excellent, all the lads together. A great performance, and a great day for us as a club.”
