Redcar Athletic returned to winning ways with a hard fought 2-1 win at a wind swept Green Lane.

Playing with the wind in the first half, the busiest player on the pitch was the Erimus ‘keeper, who kept his side in the game with a string of excellent saves.

On 3 minutes, Jack Williams played in Cam Thomson, but the Erimus ‘keeper made an excellent low save.

Two minutes later, the ‘keeper was equal to an excellent free kick from Tom Newton. However, he could do nothing about Redcar’s opening goal on 15 minutes, when Jack Williams hit a delightful volley from 20 yards which dipped over the ‘keeper at the last moment.

Just before the half hour mark, it was nearly 2-0 when a Cam Thomson cross was met by Tom Newton, but the keeper saved well again.

However, there was nothing he could do on 33 minutes, as Redcar doubled their lead thanks to a fine curling finish from Tom Newton.

Playing against the wind in the second half, Redcar struggled to get in a rhythm, and were forced to defend for large periods.

The Erimus pulled a goal back on 57 minutes, but Redcar held out and even had a chance to seal it late on, but yet again the Erimus keeper made a fine save from Tom Newton.

Redcar remain in second place in the table, and have a free week next week.
