The boss has his say as Redcar Athletic return to the top of the pile.

A happy Carl Jarrett hailed the persistence and desire of Redcar Athletic, as goals from Adam Boyes and debutant Callum Guy saw off the challenge of table-topping Boro Rangers.

The result sees the Steelmen leapfrog their opponents to go top of the division, the position albeit a little false, having played a game more.

Ahead inside just nine minutes through Adam Boyes, Redcar looked good value for the lead throughout, authoritative in possession, and aggressive without.

The forward glanced his second from an intuitive set piece, Callum Guy lifting home the third to wrap up an impressive debut with a goal to his name.

Redcar Athletic 3-0 Boro Rangers

Goals from Adam Boyes and Callum Guy settled the spoils in this top-of-the-table clash.

Pleased with the performance, Carl Jarrett told Ash Stone it was the perfect reaction to a setback on Tuesday evening.

The boss praised Boro Rangers for their work on the ball, admitting it was clear to see why the two Teesside rivals had top spot in their grasp at this stage of the season.

“We wanted a reaction after Tuesday night.” He said. “A little bit more work rate, effort and desire.”

“I think the lads have given us that today.

“Take nothing away from Boro Rangers, because I thought they were good today. They kept the ball well, they moved it around.

“They’ve got some good young lads playing for them as well, and you can see why the pair of us are so far up there.

“Fair play to them today as well.”

A fine result in the context of the title-race, Carl Jarrett had plenty of praise to share around his own squad too, highlighting the pleasing debut of Callum Guy, and forward play from Adam Boyes.

The gaffer hailed an improved work rate and desire, admitting it was more or less a complete performance from the Steelmen, with little left to the imagination.

“I thought everybody worked really hard today.” Jarrett said.

“I made a few changes to the starting line-up. Obviously, Callum (Guy) coming in, and getting a goal as well to be fair to him.

“He’s fit into the mold really well today, and I’m really happy with his debut.

“I thought Adam Boyes lead really well from the front. We defended well, obviously we’ve kept a clean sheet.

“Fingers crossed, I’ve come away without any injuries for the first time in a while. There was a couple of lads cramped up at the end.

“I can’t ask for anymore than that, as a manager. Today, I thought we had that little bit of quality in front of goal, and I’m well pleased with the three points.”
