Off to Grimsby tomorrow, with the aim being another 3 points in the push for promotion
The 8-0 The thrashing of Ashington was definitely a momentous return to action, with the Colliers now offering a ‘Pay what you want’ scheme for their next match against Consett
It is never a great sign when a defeat that bad causes a team to launch something like that, but for us, it was nothing but positives.
A clean sheet that came following some solid stops by Josh Mazfari, as well as a missed penalty
8 goals and 6 different goal scorers too, with John Howard, Adam Boyes, Oscar Fletcher, Rio May and Brad Fewster all getting a goal, and Louis Johnson getting a hat trick
The 100 league goal mark was always reached, and subsequently passed, meaning we are now the first team from the Prem down to Step 4 to have reached the triple-digit landmark
Those goals mean Louis Johnson is now level with Oscar in the top scorers table, with the pair being joint 27th across all of Step 4, and joint 4th in our league
Bosh and Brad are both still 1st and 2nd in our league, though Adam has lost his top spot in Step 4 to Albie Hall
The 8-0 scoreline is our 2nd heaviest of the season, and also the second time in a row we have scored 4 goals in the first half.
It is also the 4th time we have scored 4 in the second half, with Ossett, Silsden, and ironically, Grimsby Borough, being on the receiving end for the other 3
After the Grimsby match, we have just 4 evening fixtures remaining
There is also currently a nice 7-7 split of home and away games left to go to, with the final fixture still set to be the away trip to North Ferriby, which is now just 2 months and 1 day away
Grimsby Borough, meanwhile, will be looking to gain a bit more stability with their new management team, though their last fixture saw them lose 4-2 against Hallam.
They have been struggling for form recently, though, having won no games this year, and they have only scored 9 goals since the 18th of October 2025
Despite leading 1-0 against Hallam at halftime, the Wilderness Boys were not able to hold on, and it means they have slipped down the table as the season has progressed.
The current predicted table has them end the season just 3 points clear of safety, with the most alarming fact of that prediction being that they win just one more game for the rest of the campaign.
As of the 15th of October, they were 3 points behind the play-off spots with a game in hand, but as the weeks progressed, they dropped further and further.
They are now 19 points away from the play-offs, and just 5 points away from relegation too, though there is a buffer of teams between them and the drop zone.
Alexander Flett and Dayle Southwell are the only two players ranked in the Step 4 top scorer charts, though they are both in 740th with 3 goals.
There isn’t much else to mention about Grismby, though, with our last match preview covering a bit more about the side.
So with that, I will leave you to it!
If you’re unable to make it tomorrow night, then you know where to find live updates, where they will be on our X page.
And as always, take care, and up the Steelmen!
