Match Report: Redcar Athletic Ladies 5-0 Guisborough Town
Redcar Athletic Ladies knew going into the game it was make or break.
They had one final chance at beating top of the table Guisborough Town to ensure that the league was still within reach.
After a team talk from manager Matthew Gibson in the changing rooms, Athletic came out with one final talk from captain Hannah Springell, and the game kicked off.

Athletic started bright, capitalising through Farron McPherson to make it one-nil in the second minute, with a constant press from the whole team.
Redcar continued to press and were again rewarded as Olivia Bullock made it two-nil.
Guisborough came on the attack and were awarded a penalty for hand ball. Erin made herself big, putting the striker off to blaze it over the bar.
This only seemed to encourage Redcar, battling to win every ball. Some good football was played and when halftime came, Athletic went into the second half four-nil up.
After a talk in the changing rooms, Redcar came back into the second half wanting the win.
Guisborough had the kick-off, Redcar quickly won possession back, and Bullock caught the ‘keeper in no man’s land and finished the game off with a beautiful finish.
The game pretty much was all Guisborough after this, with Redcar taking all the pressure with ease and winning the ball back with no issues.
Match Reaction: Matthew Gibson
A fantastic result not just in a local derby, but a MASSIVE top-of-the-table clash, Ladies’ boss Matthew Gibson was thrilled with the efforts of his players.
The Steelwomen took a four-goal lead into the break, adding a fifth seconds from the restart when Olivia Bullock clinched her hat-trick.

Farron McPherson joined the forward on the scoresheet.
For Matthew Gibson, each of his players put in an admirable showing against the unbeaten league leaders, so much so that picking a Player of the Match was truly beyond him.
He said: “For me, personally, there can be no man of the match today. Everyone was outstanding.”
“A hat-trick for Olivia Bullock, a clean sheet for Erin Breckon, and an insane display of midfielding from Olivia Clark.
“The Steelwomen give everything they had and went out there and done the job.
“We are so proud of everyone today for their performance, well done to everyone.”
