Another game for the Steelmen sees us travel to Garforth as we look to reduce the gap between us and the top of the league.
As long as the potentially approaching storm doesn’t flood everything between us and Garforth, then tomorrow’s match will be another test for the Steelmen as they look to reduce the gap at the summit of the lague.
Bradford Park Avenue currently have 23 points, whilst we have 18 with 3 games in hand.
This means we could end up being 4 points clear at the top of it all, a position that would be amazing as we approach the end of the year.
Boyes, despite blanking against Pontefract, is still one of the countries top scorers, and Redcar Athletic as a whole rank in the top 3 highest scoring teams from the Premier League down to Step 6, proving that offensively we are in fantastic form.
In fact, it is just under a month since we last played a match in which we scored less than 3 goals, and its been even longer since we scored none (6th September: 1-1 vs Bradford PA, 23rd August: 0-2 vs Emley).
As for our opponents, they have had a turbulent season so far, picking up solid wins against Bishop Auckland, Lincoln United and Ashington, whilst also losing to Blyth Spartans and North Ferriby in the league, and West Auckland in an FA Cup qualifier.
The Miners have had a plethora of players, as do many clubs, but none would be as iconic as Brazilian icon Sócrates who played a single match for the club against Tadcaster Albion.
These bizarre circumstances came to be as former owner Simon Clifford had set up a Brazilian Soccer School initiative, and brought Sócrates, along with former Napoli and Brazil striker Careca and former Manchester United winger Lee Sharpe to Garforth in an attempt to advertise the school.
Nowadays, the side isn’t as star-studded, but they are still a formidable club that will push us to the limit, and so we need all the support we can get.
That’s all from me though, hopefully I will see you in Garforth, but if you can’t make the game then there will be live match updates on our X (Twitter) page.
Up the Steelmen!
