We took a look at Northallerton Town in our latest instalment of ‘The Lowdown.’
Redcar Athletic’s Northern League campaign continues with a helping of Friday night football.
The Steelmen travel to the Calvert Stadium to take on Northallerton Town, a win enough to restore a five point lead at the top of the pile.

WHO ARE YA?
Northallerton Town
Formed in 1881 as Northallerton Football Club, Town – as we know them today – have competed under a multitude of names, including Northallerton Central, and Northallerton Alliance.
The club bounced around local leagues for the majority of their existence, before finally settling in the second division of the Northern League in 1982.
Northallerton’s first Northern League outing took them to Ryhope CA (now known as Sunderland RCA), where they suffered a 4-1 defeat, before gaining their revenge a week later in the reverse fixture.

In the late 1990s, financial insolvency proved a very real threat to the football club, and the risk of liquidation loomed.
Just days away from folding, when matters looked to be worsening for the black and whites, a local businessman stepped in to restore hope to the club, and keep them fighting into the modern era, and Northern League Division One.
CURRENT FORM

Flirting on the fringes of the top half, Northallerton Town are winless in four, their last victory coming in such narrow fashion against a revitalised Tow Law Town.
The Black and Whites last suffered defeat at the hands of a similarly resurgent Birtley Town, the Hoops winning every match since holding the Steelmen to a draw at Green Lane.

Redcar Athletic have similarly taken every point since such disappointment, yet to concede too.
The top-of-the-table clash with Boro Rangers ended in a commanding 3-0 victory, Carlisle put to the sword in a scintillating first half demolition.
