Recap

Bradley Fewster snatched a double as three second half goals took Redcar Athletic to victory against Tow Law Town.

The forward broke the deadlock with almost an hour on the clock, taking aim from range to bypass a well-drilled defence.

A stroke of fortune teed up Nathan Guru to double the lead, before Bradley Fewster turned home his second of the afternoon on the stroke of the ninety.

It was far from the high-scoring affair some predicted in the build-up to the contest. A spirited effort from a struggling Tow Law forced Redcar to work hard for the spoils.

Josh Mazfari was the first of the two shot-stoppers to be called into action. The Hartlepool United loanee made light work of Ben Dibb-Fuller’s effort, facing little else in the way of a challenge over the course of the ninety.

Bradley Fewster led the Steelmen’s charge at the other end, first teeing up Adam Boyes who got the ball stuck beneath his feet, before going alone and forcing a stop from Thomas Orton.

Oscar Fletcher shrugged off two in midfield to create his own chance at goal, his attempt from deep equally routine, much to his frustration.

In the absence of Bryan Taylor, Callum Guy was offered his first start since returning from injury, twice denied at close-range before the half was up.

His thunderous effort soon marked the start of the second period, and it was only a matter of time before Bradley Fewster struck to break the deadlock.

The forward cut inside from the left flank, his effort devastating enough as it is, but helped by the glare of the sun in obstructing Thomas Orton’s vision.

In an unusual turn of events, Leo Strange came on to take his place in the Tow Law goal, forced to tip Callum Guy’s driven strike over the bar within minutes of donning the gloves.

Craig Gott soon took aim from range, his effort striking the back of Oscar Fletcher, but falling conveniently to Nathan Guru to tuck home in a rare contribution to the scoresheet.

Redcar continued to chip away at a well-drilled backline, finally adding a third on the stroke of full time when Oscar Fletcher picked out Bradley Fewster, and the forward had but a simple finish from six yards.
