Redcar Athletic came out as 2-1 winners in their trip to Heaton Stannington on Wednesday evening.
The Steelmen took the lead through Isaac Walker after 24 minutes.
The hosts equalised just five minutes into the second half, however Jordan Rivis headed in a winner to earn The Steelmen all three points.
The game started quietly, until Matty Bateman was called into action on minute ten to make a superb double save, getting down low for the first before rising to his feet and parrying away the rebounded effort.
On minute 24, Isaac Walker tucked away Redcar’s first chance of the evening, poking a through ball from Paul Young past the Heaton goalkeeper.
Just before the break, Jordan Rivis had an opportunity from a free-kick, however his effort was well held by the ‘keeper.
Five minutes into the second half and the hosts grabbed an equaliser through Dan Stephenson, who fired a free-kick past Bateman.
On minute 72, Rivis rose highest on a corner to head home and restore The Steelmen’s one goal advantage.
With just a few minutes left to play, substitute Donny Holdsworth was brought down in the area whilst through on goal, however the referee deemed there was no foul and waved play on.
