Recap
Bradley Fewster claimed a second hat-trick of the season as a ruthless Redcar Athletic ran rampant against West Allotment Celtic.
The forward drove home a delightful first touch finish inside the opening half hour, as goals from Joe Taylor and Adam Boyes clocked a three-point lead come the break.
Fewster wrapped up his treble with near enough the last kick of the game, Curtis Round, Bryan Taylor and Oscar Fletcher joining him on the second-half scoresheet.
It was a torrid night at the B&D Interiors Stadium. Few hardened souls lined the terraces, undeterred by strong winds, driving rain and the bitter cold.
Carl Jarrett opted to name an unchanged team from Saturday’s ten-man success, with Mark Anderson’s suspension yet to come into effect.
Bryan Taylor returned from injury, albeit only to the bench. Priestley Griffiths remained on the sidelines, whilst his replacement was the first to find a way past Celtic shot-stopper Callum Elliot.
Tidy in the midfield all evening, Joe Taylor followed up an earlier warning shot when taking aim from the right flank, his effort looping beyond the sprawling goalkeeper to find the far corner.
Callum Elliot was far from an easy man to beat, reacting quickly to deny Bradley Fewster’s attempt on the turn, the forward’s cross towards his strike partner soon thwarted down low.
Craig Gott played provider when Redcar finally doubled the tally, his clever free kick delivered to the edge of the area and neatly tucked home by Bradley Fewster.
Adam Boyes took the plaudits for number three, the celebrations rather hushed as a collision in the build-up to the goal left Callum Elliot in some pain.
The shot-stopper left the pitch on a stretcher as the whistle sounded for halftime, and all at Redcar Athletic would like to wish him the best in his recovery.
Defender Kurtis Dodds took the number one shirt in his absence, conceding almost instantly as Bradley Fewster fired home to punish a defensive mistake.
Fantastic work from substitute Bryan Taylor fashioned the fifth goal. The fullback worked the ball down the left flank and into the centre, where Curtis Round was waiting to pounce on a loose block.
The South Shields loanee soon opened his own account, taking aim from range as the ball sat up nicely, his effort slipping through the grasp of Kurtis Dodds.
A trip on Bradley Fewster left the referee waiting to point to the spot, the decision stripped from him when Jake Stott laid on for Oscar Fletcher at the back post to take the tally to seven.
The substitute forward had a number of chances of his own to increase the arrears, most notably in a one-on-one situation, from which he was frustratingly denied.
Stott had to settle for a second assist when fed by Olly Cann, his pullback into the centre swept home by Bradley Fewster for a second hat-trick of the season, and an eighth goal once again for Redcar Athletic.
