The assistant boss lauded a return to top form for Redcar’s number nine.
Assistant Manager Dave McTiernan praised Adam Boyes for his recent return to top form, netting five times across two appearances as Redcar Athletic surged to the top of the table.
The forward claimed the match ball in a blistering first half demolition of Carlisle City on Tuesday evening, bagging a brace but days earlier as the Steelmen beat then league leaders, Boro Rangers.
A stellar end to a brief goal drought, Dave McTiernan had plenty of praise for Adam Boyes, from his work rate whilst out of possession, to his finishing in a recent clinical flurry.
Carlisle City 0-5 Redcar Athletic
A hat-trick from Adam Boyes headlined a five-star showing in Cumbria.
“I think people judge strikers on goals.” He said. “And Boyes has scored a lot of goals over a number of years.”
“One thing we can’t knock Boysie for in the last couple of weeks is his work rate. We did say it’ll start coming again for him.
“Two goals at the weekend, three on Tuesday night, and he probably could’ve had a couple more.
“It’s a credit to the lads, they’re playing the right balls. But he’s worked his socks off.
“He’s big, he’s powerful up there, and he’s been a constant threat!”
