The Redcar fullback offered his thoughts on Thursday’s derby.
A half century of Redcar appearances under his belt, Curtis Round reflected on his time at Marske United ahead of our Boxing Day derby.
The winger-turned fallback made his name at Mount Pleasant across two spells, returning on Thursday for the first time since the club’s unfortunate demise.

Marske United withdrew from the Northern Premier League this time last year due to financial difficulties, a large crop of their local talent opting to move down the road to join Carl Jarrett’s Steelmen.
One such player making an eagerly-anticipated return is Curtis Round, who this weekend clocked up his fiftieth appearance in the red and navy.
On his half century, the fullback said: “I feel like we’ve made huge progress since the start of my time at Redcar Athletic.”
“I have really enjoyed it, but I do think there’s much more to achieve for both myself and this team.”

Boxing Day brings the two clubs – separated by a mere two miles – together for the first time in a competitive setting, with plenty of angst on the line.
Both Redcar Athletic and Marske United are in dire need of a result, and set to go up against a great number of familiar faces.
For Curtis Round, taking on his former club will be a special occasion, as too will the bout being played on Boxing Day.
He said: “Boxing Day games always have that something extra with it being a local derby.

“The game just tends to be a little bit special because of that.
“I made great memories (at Marske United), and met great people, but ultimately it’s about us putting things right.
“We have to get the three points. In my eyes, it is crucial.”
