The midfielder-turned-centre-back previews Saturday’s game.

Craig Gott says Redcar Athletic should aim to win each and every game for the rest of the season ahead of Carlisle City’s visit to the B&D Interiors Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Sky Blues make up the second of three successive home games here on the Redcar seafront, culminating in a huge local derby against Marske United on Tuesday evening.

A regular fixture in the heart of defence since the turn of the year, Craig Gott will be crucial to stopping Carlisle City on Saturday afternoon.

The Sky Blues have made a habit of upsetting Redcar Athletic here at the B&D Interiors Stadium, last winning by a lone goal through now boss Dan Kirkup.

Whilst admitting every game in this league was tough, Craig argued he and his teammates had the calibre to beat each and every one of them.

Carlisle, however, he conceded would make a strong adversary.

“Carlisle (City) are one of those teams where you sometimes don’t know what you are going to get.” He said.

“They’re always a big, physical, hard-working side. In their last game they turned North Shields over, so we need to be at it from the first minute.

“There are no easy games, and if we aren’t at our best, then they will fancy their chances.

“Saturday is a big game, as is every game now. We have fourteen games left, and we need to go in to every one like it’s a cup final.

FIXTURES AND RESULTS

“It would be a very hard task, but if we win every game from now until the end of the season, we’ll win the title. It’s as simple as that, and that should be our aim.

“With the group of lads we have, I don’t see why that isn’t a realistic target.”

In a winning start to the new year, Craig has found a home in the backline alongside Danni Lay and Nathan Guru.

The defensive partnership has proved rather successful, with just one goal conceded in four games, coming in the North Riding Senior Cup.

His first regular run of gametime of the season due to an extensive injury, Craig admitted he was relishing the new role, and his return to action.

“Carl (Jarrett) has asked me to do a job and fill in at the back.” He said.

“I think the four games I have played there with Danni (Lay) and (Nathan) Gu’ we have kept three clean sheets, so we have been pretty solid.

“They’ve both looked after me well. I enjoy playing there.”
