The Redcar boss offers his thoughts on a first home pre-season affair against Whitby Town.

Redcar Athletic boss Carl Jarrett labelled Whitby Town a ‘good test’ for his side, offering his excitement to finally return to the pristine turf of Green Lane.

The Northern Premier League outfit become the first to visit the Redcar seafront as part of pre-season preparations, the fourth outing in advance of the Northern League curtain-raiser in just two weeks time.

Impressed with how the Steelmen have performed since a return to action in June, Carl Jarrett told Head of Media Ash Stone he was thrilled to see his squad pit against their toughest test yet.

“I’m really looking forward to welcoming Whitby Town to Green Lane in our first home friendly.” Jarrett said.

“I’m really looking forward to the good test that we’ll get.

“We’ve played three friendlies up to now, and I have to say they’ve all gone well.

“The new lads are fitting in really well.”

On a return to home soil, the boss admitted he was keen to play before a home crowd once again, urging supporters to turn out in support of his Steelmen.

“It’s going to be good to finally play on our home pitch,” he said, “in front of hopefully a big crowd for a pre-season game.”

“I’m really looking forward to it.”
