The boss offered his thoughts on our victory over Newcastle Blue Star.

Carl Jarrett celebrated a ‘vital three points’ in front of a bumper Scotswood crowd, as Adam Boyes’ hat-trick toppled a spirited Newcastle Blue Star.

The result leaves Redcar Athletic in pole position in the battle for the Northern League title – three points clear of Shildon with just two games to go.

MATCH REPORT

An Adam Boyes hat-trick fired Redcar to victory against Newcastle Blue Star.

On an afternoon the boss recognised was of great significance to the club, Redcar were in control from minute one through ninety.

Oscar Fletcher slipped Adam Boyes through with twelve minutes on the clock to take the lead, two near repeat scenarios in the second half putting the game beyond doubt.

Carl Jarrett heaped praise upon his Steelmen, in particular Adam Boyes.

The boss conceded his goal haul was far from what was expected at the beginning of the season, but his work rate is constantly second to none.

“The lads were excellent today, from minute one right through to the end.” He said.

“We spoke about the importance of this game at training on Tuesday.

“It just felt good as soon as I got there today. The mood was good, the vibe in the changing room was excellent, and the experienced lads were rallying everyone around.

“We were defensively very strong, and we were good in midfield. The front three were brilliant.

“I don’t think ‘Bosh’ gave them any breathing space at all! He’s worked really hard all season, and to get three goals, I thought he really deserved it.

“He hasn’t hit the goal scoring heights that we would have expected, but he’s worked so hard that’s it’s almost worth another twenty goals.

“It’s a vital three points, and at a vital point in the season too.”
