The boss hailed another eight-goal haul in difficult conditions.
Carl Jarrett said Redcar Athletic were ‘excellent’ in difficult conditions after an eight-goal thrashing of West Allotment Celtic.
Strong winds and driving rain made for an uncomfortable evening on the terraces, but that wasn’t to stop Jarrett’s Steelmen from racking up ninety goals for the season.
Joe Taylor opened the scoring inside the half hour, Bradley Fewster and Adam Boyes on target before the break, as Celtic shot-stopper Callum Elliot made way with a serious injury.
Defender Kurtis Dodds claimed the number one shirt, conceding to Curtis Round, Bryan Taylor, Oscar Fletcher and twice to Bradley Fewster in a dominant second half showing.
Understandably pleased with such a thorough performance – and another eight goals – the boss praised his Steelmen for their efforts in adverse conditions.
“I think the conditions weren’t very good tonight.” He said. “Let’s say that.”

“The lads have done fantastic, really. Especially in the first half, when the wind was a lot stronger.
“We played some good football again tonight. Created some great chances and got ourselves ahead in the first half. We scored some good goals, and we just kicked on from there.
“The belief is there, as I said last week. We’re picking up some good wins against some good teams.
“Give them credit, West Allotment Celtic. At six, seven-nil, they’ve not stopping for their manager, they just kept on going for each other. Fair play to them, because some teams crumble.
“Our lads were just excellent.”
Birtley Town’s second half strike remains the only goal Redcar Athletic have conceded in the league since the turn of the year.
The boss praised his side for playing high up the pitch, controlling the play and giving opposition very little chance to break in behind.
“I don’t think we’ve conceded a goal at home this year.” He said of our league form. “We’ve done really well.”
“We only faced two or three shots tonight. None of them really troubled us, maybe apart from one.

“I think it’s a credit to the way the lads are actually playing, you know, controlling the ball and not trying to give as many chances up to other teams.
“We’ve asked them to try and keep the ball a lot more rather than having two or three passes and then just trying the long one.
“As a team, I said it on Saturday when I came back, we’re defending really, really well.
“We’re keeping clean sheets, and that’s a massive credit to the lads!”
