The first team boss offered his thoughts on our Emirates FA Cup defeat.
Carl Jarrett admitted he was disappointed to be knocked out of the Emirates FA Cup – frustrated by a sup-par performance just days on from an impressive win over then league-leaders Dunston UTS.
Despite netting four in a scintillating Bank Holiday display, Redcar were plagued by defensive errors at a Packed out Mill Lane.
Adam Boyes opened the scoring, the celebrations quickly muted by a treble from Pikes’ forward George Brown.
Bradley Fewster pulled one back from the spot, but further strikes from Joe Wood and George Thewlis spelled an end to the Steelmen’s latest Emirates FA Cup campaign.
Such a defeat was hard to take for the returning Carl Jarrett. The boss admitted he was gutted to exit the competition, but gave credit where it was due to Pickering Town.
“I’m disappointed.” He said.
“I’m really disappointed tonight. I don’t want to take anything away from Pickering. Their lads worked hard for their ‘gaffer’ tonight, all over the park.
“There was a desire from the full team to want to win tonight. Credit to them first and foremost.
“Secondly, for us, we gave away some poor goals tonight. I think their best goal was their last, all of the rest I think we just gave away.
“It’s disappointing to get knocked out of the (Emirates) FA Cup after two good games against Guisborough (Town), but we were deservedly beat tonight.
“We’ve just got to take it on the chin, learn from it, and we’ve got to go to Bradford Park Avenue and put out a response, because this was just not good enough.”
