The boss previews our trip to Penrith and The Frenchfield Stadium.
Carl Jarrett says his Steelmen will go into Saturday’s bout with Penrith fired up and focused, even after a midweek loss to Scarborough Athletic.
The National League North outfit condemned Redcar to a first defeat of the calendar year on Tuesday evening, but the boss remains determined to bounce back in a crucial game in Cumbria.
The Steelmen sit six points clear of Shildon at the top of the pile – albeit having played a game more – but travel to a rather fruitless hunting ground in need of success.
Redcar have failed to win on each of their last two visits to Penrith’s Frenchfield Stadium, the most recent perhaps the darkest day in the club’s short history.
Regardless, Carl Jarrett stressed the defeat would have no change on his players’ approach to Saturday’s game. The target, as always, is three points.
“We’re all focused on (the title fight).” He said. “Nothing changes after Tuesday night’s defeat.
“We know exactly where we are as a club, and all the lads know exactly what we expect as a management.
“We’ll be going for what we go for in each and every single game – home or away. We’re going for the three points in Penrith.
“There can’t be any slip ups. We’ve got to try our best and we’ve got to work hard.”
Whilst of course tasking his players with securing a crucial three points at the Frenchfield Stadium, Jarrett also acknowledged such would not be an easy task.
The boss admitted he was impressed by the quality of the Northern League this season, maintaining his claim that anybody can beat anybody on their day.
He added: “It’s going to be on a 4G pitch. We are pretty good on 4G, we’ve got some good, technical football players.
“Penrith. It’s going to be a tough game. What I’ve learned this year is that everyone in this league can beat each other.
“It’s such a hard and competitive league. It’s impressed me this year. There’s been lots of good teams in it.
“Penrith won’t just lie down, so we’ve got to be ready for this game, and I’m sure we will be.”
