A convincing victory for Micheal Mulhern’s side on the Redcar seafront.
Middlesbrough Women sealed their place in the FA Women’s National League Cup in some style, thumping four past Durham Cestria on the hallowed turf of Green Lane.
The first in a pair of fixtures on the Redcar seafront for Micheal Mulhern’s side, a brace apiece for Ellen Turnbull and Mille Bell saw the ‘Boro safely through the Determining Round, a Durham consolation far too late to mount a serious challenge.
Backed by a fair contingent along the terraces of Green Lane, a sensational, early strike from Ellen Turnbull set matters firmly in the right direction.
Mille Bell towered high in the box to turn home a quick second, mirroring her effort on the half hour mark to see ‘Boro into a commanding halftime lead.
Ellen netted a second of her own some minutes from the restart, keeping her composure at the near post to apply the tidiest of finishes.
A set piece offered Durham Cestria a late route back into the tie, the visitors unable to press on with such a mountain to climb, and forced to succumb to the League Plate.
Boro Women will now contest the First Round of the FA Women’s National League Cup, the draw expected to take place next week.
Fans can enjoy Micheal Mulhern’s Red’s in league action at Green Lane next month, York City Ladies the visitors on Wednesday 25th September.
