The Redcar boss looks ahead to our weekend derby with Boro Rangers.
Carl Jarrett says he expects a tough game this weekend, as Redcar Athletic take on their local rivals in Boro Rangers at Phoenix Park.
The Steelmen haven’t graced the turf since a 3-0 victory over Tow Law Town in February, and return from two weeks on the training ground to what the boss labelled a difficult encounter.
Boro Rangers currently sit fourth in the division, having once been Redcar’s main rivals for the title earlier in the season.
The Middlesbrough-based outfit still have a play-off spot firmly in their grasp, and will no doubt be inclined to fight for it, especially in what can only be described as a Teesside derby.
Carl Jarrett admitted he expects a great game of football at Phoenix Park, arguing both teams have enough motivation to want to go out and win the game.
“It’s vital for both teams I think, tomorrow.” He said.
“Obviously, at their ground, Boro Rangers, and on their pitch. It should be a very good game for the neutral.
“We need the points to stay at the top, and they need the points to try and catch up to us, and to keep in those play-off spots.
“I expect nothing more than a very, very good game of football, and a good battle, against our local rivals.”
On how to approach the game, given such a long hiatus, the boss revealed key figures sidelined by injury should be due a return.
Redcar had been without Priestley Griffiths, Bryan Taylor and Kevin Burgess for some time, but all should be in contention for tomorrow’s trip to Phoenix Park.
“I’m looking forward to playing against them.” He said.
“It’s always a good game, whether it’s in the cup or the league. They’re a very good team. Well organised.
“We’ve got to keep on our run. Keep our run going. It’s vital that we just concentrate on one game at a time.
“We’ve prepared really well during the last few weeks in training. We’ve given some a rest.
“I’m expecting to have a full squad tomorrow, apart from Mark Anderson, who’s banned.
“I’m really looking forward to it, and hope to see a big crowd there!”
