6 different scorers put us comfortably through against a solid step 6 Grangetown
A fairly solid Steelmen lineup took to the pitch against a Grangetown side, donning tiger-esque kits.
We did start on the front foot, though, with a 2-0 lead being earned in the first 10 minutes.
Our first goal came following some stunning passing play between Owen Burns and Louis Johnson, with the former sending a ball out wide to the latter before he swept it into the box, where Owen was on hand to put the ball into the net.
Our second goal then followed quickly after, as Bryan Taylor scored a stunning long-range strike. Receiving a pass from Sparky as he put in a solid challenge, Bryan took a touch and leathered a shot into the net.
We kept having attempts on goal as the half ticked on, and we were rewarded with a third goal in the 33rd minute as Louis Johnson slipped a pass into the area, and it wasn’t properly cleared, allowing Bartliff to sweep it in.
A solid stop from Grangetown’s keeper kept us at bay, but we did get a 4th goal just before the break, as Bryan played a pass into the box that Mark was able to get on the end of, turning it into the net.
The first half was just that. A long list of Redcar chances, and 4 goals to go with them
The second half started with a Grangetown chance, but their distant shot went wide, leaving Lewis McDonald untroubled.
We then began to attack again, bringing some substitutes on as well, with Curtis Round taking the place of JJ Bartliff.
Within 5 minutes of coming on, Curtis was on the scoresheet as an Oscar Fletcher strike hit the post, and Curtis was the one who reacted quickest to tap it in.
John Howard and Kiren Uppal both came on the pitch too, in the places of Oscar and Louis.
We had a few more chances, but it did seem like both sides had started to settle down, and we finished the game off in the 83rd minute, as Brad Fewster bagged our 6th
Sparky lofted a long ball into the box that was met by Curtis, who squared a pass across to Brad, who took a touch and rolled it past Grangetown’s keeper.
The final real chance saw Lewis McDonald make a solid stop, preventing Grangetown from scoring any, and the ref blew for full time the moment we hit the 90th minute.
A semi-final against Boro Rangers will be organised at some point, but for now, we turn our attention to the end of the league campaign, with an away trip to Bradford Park Avenue on Saturday, and a potentially monumental match against Matlock on Wednesday that could see us win the title.
Hope to see you at all three of those matches, and as always, take care, and up the Steelmen.
