Match Report: Heaton Stannington 0-4 Redcar Athletic

Unbeaten in 2026 and no away goals conceded since October, the Steelmen are now guaranteed a top 6 finish

Another away game, but this time we headed north as we entered Newcastle to take on Heaton Stannington under a brightly lit full moon

The first encounter with them was back at the start of the season at home, and we left the Hollou with a 3-0 win, with goals coming from Curtis Round and a brace from Bosh.

This time, it was once again a defender and Bosh on the scoresheet, though it was Nathan Guru for his first league strike of the season.

The first half was a dominant Redcar display, with the Steelmen pushing and peppering the Heaton defence with wide balls and runs forward.

We opened the scoring rapidly, too, with Louis Johnson pressing Heaton’s goalkeeper, forcing him to skew a clearance that fell to the feet of Adam Boyes. In a quick action, Bosh struck the ball into an empty net, giving us a 1-0 lead.

It then became 2-0 even quicker, though, with Louis Johnson doing the same thing once again, forcing Hetaton’s goalkeeper to skew a clearance, and unbelievably, that clearance did fall to Bosh once again too.

Further out this time around, he once again steadied himself and struck a more powerful attempt into an equally empty net.

Dane Burlace was a forefront piece of our attacks, with the defensive winger (I genuinely don’t know if he played full back or wing back) putting in a lot of great tackles, clearances and passes throughout the half.

Things dulled down as the minutes ticked on, with a few shots from distance not troubling the Heaton keeper.

But in the 40th minute, we bagged a 3rd in a truly spectacular style.

Oscar Fletcher prodded a ball into the box that was headed clear, but only as far as to Nathan Guru, who proceeded to chest the ball down and wallop a volley into the net, sending the bench into bedlam.

That ultimately was the last real chance of the half, and it meant we entered the interval 3-0 up.

The second half saw Heaton start insanely strongly, a list of shots being put towards Mazfari in our net, though none could get past him.

The first prime chance, though, came to us as Bosh did brilliantly well to win the ball outside the box and threaded a pass out to Louis Johnson.

The prolific attacker looked bound to score, but we could only watch as his shot narrowly went wide.

At the other end, Heaton were pushing for their first, forcing our defence to solidify more, with Bartliff making a solid tackle in the 60th minute to stop a quick-footed Heaton winger.

More chances for Heaton came and went, with two quick strikes both missing, with the first going wide and the second skimming across the face of goal.

In the 75th minute, Mazfari made a spectacular pair of saves as he blocked one close-range strike before lurching across the goalmouth to push another shot away. The linesman’s flag had been raised in the process, but it was still some great goalkeeping.

More great saves from our number 1 kept our clean sheet intact, and in the end, it was us who bagged the final goal.

We won the ball back in midfield, a long pass from Dane found Bosh alone at the top, and he kept his composure and struck a solid shot into the far corner, sealing all 3 points for us, and a hat trick for himself, with the full time whistle sounding a couple minutes later

Next up is another away trip, this time to Lincoln United on Saturday, before a midweek home match against Blyth Spartans and a Saturday home fixture against Ossett United

Hopefully, we will see you at them, but if not, there’s always the live X updates.

Take care and up the Steelmen.
