The Steelmen derby is back once more, with Consett coming to Redcar looking to halt an 8-game winless run

A 6-1 win against Blyth Town seems to have condemned Consett to a problematic situation in which their eight following matches have ended with draws and defeats.

Whilst not the worst run of form in the league, it isn’t great, with the 8-match form table having Consett sat in 21st, with just Bishop Auckland below them

We were one of the teams who contributed to Consett’s 8-game struggle, but we weren’t the most damaging, with Lincoln United and Dunston both beating the other Steelmen 4-2 and 4-1 respectively.

Having not played since the 25th of November, there is a possibility that Consett may be a bit rustier than us, with their last match being a 0-0 draw against Bradford Park Avenue

Just one goal since the 2nd of November is another point to take note of, although not a good note for Consett, with substitute Callan Stocks getting that goal in their 4-1 defeat to Dunston.

Isaac Walker and Matty Todd are Consett’s highest scorers, both joint 6th in the league, with the pair sat on 7 goals each. Bradley Fewster has just under their total tally, with our POTM nominee sat on 13.

Adam Boyes, meanwhile, is on 22.

As for the real Steelmen, another two postponements meant we didn’t get a match against Silsden or Richmond, prolonging us from seeing some more action.

Hopefully, tomorrow’s match is on, and we can get back to what we love, which is watching Jarrett-ball.

Still top of all the charts, but that lead is shrinking as we go without games.

Adam Boyes is only 1 goal clear in the Step 4 top scorer table, and our league lead is now 9 points, with both Matlock and Emley just 3 wins away from catching us.

We still have a very healthy goal difference, though, with our 4-0 win against Brighouse providing the cherry on top of what has already been a great season.

The squad is only looking better as each game goes on, and really, there isn’t much more you can ask for

Actually yes there is, you can ask for our match to actually be on.

Other than that, there isn’t a great deal to talk about for either side, with our last meeting being so recent that Consett don’t have many new facts, and our lack of games meaning everything was covered in the Silsden match preview

So with that, I hop to see you tomorrow at the Hollou, both for the match and for the Christmas party afterwards, but if you aren’t able to make the game then there will be live updates on our Twitter/X page.

No updates for the Christmas party, though.

Take care, and up the Steelmen!
