The fullback is the latest name of the list of retentions for Redcar Athletic.
Popular defender Olly Cann has become the latest to commit his future to Redcar Athletic following our historic promotion to the Northern Premier League East.
The young fullback becomes the seventh confirmed retention from the Steelmen’s title winning campaign, following the likes of Oscar Fletcher, Nathan Guru and Adam Boyes.
Signed having impressed as a trialist in pre-season, Olly became a regular fixture in Carl Jarrett’s starting eleven before injury wrought his campaign.
Through such struggles, he made 30 appearances – 17 of which from the bench – netting arguably the most important goal of the season against Easington Colliery on the final day.
He also provided three assists.
In the time that he did play, Olly established himself as a deeply popular figure amongst the Redcar faithful, both through his unwavering commitment on and off the field, and his positive attitude.
It’s not just the supporters who have taken to the young fullback. First Team boss Carl Jarrett spoke highly of Olly during the season, and admitted he was pleased to see him stay on into the Northern Premier League era.
“Olly is a great lad, and his attitude was brilliant last season.” He said.
“He is a very good footballer, and I’m looking forward to watching him step up next season.”
