The Redcar centurion looks ahead to our weekend visit to Birtley.
Nathan Guru urged Redcar to continue their stellar goalscoring form during Saturday’s visit to the Arrowmark Home Improvements Stadium.
The Steelmen have netted THIRTEEN times in just two games at the B&D Interiors Stadium, now to set off on their travels to face a struggling Birtley Town.
Albeit lowly at the present, the Hoops were a force to be reckoned with last season, twice beating Redcar Athletic on their surge to a play-off semifinal defeat.
Since their promotion to Division One, Birtley Town have conceded just a single point to the Steelmen, something Nathan Guru believes must be set right on Saturday.
“We just need to maintain the form we are in, and bring that into the Birtley game.” He said. “Both on and off the pitch.”
“The lads are full of confidence and all pushing each other.
“Birtley will be a very hard place to go if we don’t manage the game right. They’ll work hard and be very hard to beat, as we know due to drawing to them at home.”
The Hoops were the first side to take a point off Redcar Athletic at the B&D Interiors Stadium this season, twice pegged back in a four-goal stalemate back in October.
Mark Anderson and Bradley Fewster netted for the Steelmen on the night.
Such is an important reminder of the importance not only of scoring goals, but keeping them out too.
Redcar are yet to concede in the league since the turn of the year, and Guru would certainly like to keep it that way.
“With the attacking players we have, we know we will always be a massive threat to opposition, and score goals.” He said.
“Keeping cleaning sheets and being defensively solid is massive for us if we want to win the League.”
