The Redcar boss previews Tuesday’s trip to Cumbria in our latest presser.
Carl Jarrett says Carlisle City present a difficult task for his Steelmen, keen to continue a positive streak of form as league-leaders.
Redcar Athletic leapfrogged Boro Rangers to go top of the division in a thrilling 3-0 victory at the weekend, debutant Callum Guy on target in a stellar first showing.
Now tasked with upending an organised Carlisle City at Gillford Park, Carl Jarrett admitted it was a difficult place to go, crediting boss Dan Kirkup with facilitating a solid defence.
Redcar Athletic 3-0 Boro Rangers
Goals from Adam Boyes and Callum Guy settled the spoils in this top-of-the-table clash.
“It’s a hard place to go.” He said. “I’ve been there many times on a Tuesday night.”
“You don’t just go there and have them roll over and let you tickle their belly. It’s going to be a difficult game.
“I know how Dan Kirkup will have them set up. He’s a good lad, and he’ll have them very hard to beat.
“It’s a long journey over. We have to make sure we’re organised. As we all know, in non-league, players have day jobs, but we’ve got to try and take as much as we possibly can up there.”
Undefeated since an ill-fated evening in North Shields, Jarrett hopes for a continuation of fortunes come the final whistle at Gillford Park.
The boss repeated his delight at returning to the top of the table, telling Ash Stone of how the challenge now becomes to stay there.
“We want to keep our good run going.” He said.
“I know we’re disappointed about (drawing with) Birtley, but I don’t think we’ve been beaten in about five or six games.
“We’ve gone top of the league at the weekend, so honestly, I don’t think I could ask for anymore.
“It’ll be tough, but we’ll go and see what we can do!”
