The forward spoke to Ash Stone ahead of the visit of Crook Town.

Redcar Athletic forward Jack Blackford praised a strong start to the season from the team, hoping for such successes to continue when Crook Town visit Green Lane on Saturday afternoon.

Looking ahead to the weekend’s action, the 26-year-old spoke to Head of Media Ash Stone, telling of his personal desire to contribute in attack, and the need to take the season a game at a time.

Four wins from four in the opening chapter of play, Redcar Athletic sit atop the Northern League with a startling goal difference, awaiting a trip to Pontefract Colleries in the Preliminary Round of the Emirates FA Cup.

A club-record start, Jack Blackford lauded the hard work in pre-season for the early success, keen still to avoid any tropes of complacency, and arrogance.

“We’ve had a great start to the season.” Jack said. “This is what we wanted, and worked hard for in pre-season.”

“As a group, we have a mentality of winning. That’s all we want to do together.”

“It’s been a good start for me personally,” he continued, “wanting to chip in and get numbers on the board has been something management have spoke to me about.”

“I think, as a team, we want to play football, to get it on the floor and that suits me!

“But we do the nasty stuff as a team, and we work hard for each other!”

On the prestigious opposition of the Black and Ambers, Jack added: “Crook (Town) is another tough game, but every game is.”

“Like I’ve said, mentality is huge for us. We take it one game at a time. We’re back at home, and it should hopefully be a good game!

“Who knows! As long as we keep a strong mentality going forward, it will be a good season.”
