Steelmen excited by Bishops test, says Jarrett

The Redcar boss expressed his eagerness to see his squad pit against the league’s best.

Deep into the business end of the season, Bishop Auckland come to the Redcar seafront vying to return to the summit of the division.

Knocked off their perch by their closest rivals, Shildon, a loss for the Railwaymen at the weekend leaves the door ajar for the Two Blues, who boast a number of games in hand.

On the challenge posed by the title-hungry Bishops, Redcar boss Carl Jarrett admitted it would make for a good footballing contest, keen to see his players face down the division’s best in preparation for next season.

“I’m looking forward to it.” Jarrett said. “Massively.

“I think it will be a great game for everyone to come down and watch at Green Lane.”

“You’ve got two teams that like to keep hold of the ball quite a bit, have possession of it.

“With the weather that we’ve had, our pitch should have a little bit of zip on it, and I’m sure that will suit us both.”

Whilst eager to see the match unfold, Jarrett conceded a recent defeat to Shildon would most likely inject further impetus into the Bishops, rather than present an opportunity to hurt a wounded animal.

The boss argued the Two Blues would be ‘full of confidence,’ despite the loss, keen to settle what remains of the race for promotion.

“They will be coming full of confidence, even though they got beat in their last game, against Shildon.

“After Shildon’s result at the weekend, they’ll be wanting to get the league sowed up as quickly as they can.

“It’s a good challenge for us to see where we are. We always seem to play well against the good teams.

“Like I’ve been saying, we’re building for next season. But, I’m still really looking forward to Tuesday. It should be a cracking game.
