Redcar lose heavily on opening day of the Season

05 August 2018

Easington Colliery 5 Redcar Athletic 1
Well it was a baptism of fire for Redcar Athletic in their 1st Northern League game against a very good Easington side.
There was a lot of excitement & anticipation before the game & Redcar actually settled quite well before pressing the self destruct button in a crazy 5 minute spell where mistakes led to Easington cruising onto a 3 goal lead all the goals coming from Adamson.
Following that crazy spell Redcar settled again and played some decent football and both Calvert & Redman had chances to reduce the arrears. Just before half time Sam Calvert did manage to score Redcars 1st Northern League goal with a great finish to make it 3-1.
Early in the 2nd half Keeper Dan Simpkin kept the score at 3-1 with a great save and then Redcar dominated possession and created several chances then just as it looked like Redcar might pull another goal back a repeat of the 1st half happened when again Redcar conceded 2 goals in 2 minutes again through careless play.
So the game ended 5-1 a result which I think was a little cruel on Redcar but we need to learn quick cut out the mistakes which I am sure the coaching team will be working on !
We move on to Wednesday night now and a historic night for Redcar our 1st Northern League home game against Thornaby 7.30pm ko.
We would love to have the support of a big crowd with the people of Redcar getting behind the team against one of the League favourites.
Please help us to share the details of this game thank you.
