Match Report

Redcar Athletic scored 3 goals in a frenzied 3 minutes to all but wrap this Monkwearmouth Cup by the 11th minute. In the 8th minute Jordan Rivis chipped the ball into the Windscale penalty area and when defender Ryan Bryne dallied to clear it, JACK SIMPSON was in like a flash to rob him of it before lobbing it over keeper James Dolan into the net. Virtually straight from the kick off SAM WEBSTER, won possession of the ball just inside the Windscale half before weaving his way past half of their team into the penalty area and then firing a rising shot into the right hand side of the net for a great invidual goal. Then just 90 seconds later ADAM PRESTON gained possession of the ball 25 yards out and then burst into the penalty area before blasting his shot past keeper James Dolan to make it 3-0 leaving both the Windscale team and the fans watching almost shellshocked. It took just another 6 minutes before the 4th goal came along when Chris Bivens took a quick free kick putting Jack Simpson away down the right flank, who got to the by-line before firing the ball across the 6 yard box perfectly for the racing-in ADAM PRESTON to finish off by hammering it into the net. The 4th goal seemed to bring the Windscale side out of their stupor and they started to play some nice football and their first chance came on 31 minutes when a ball came in from the left wing to Matthew Sempill on the edge of the Redcar Athletic penalty area, who took a touch before letting fly with his shot  which fizzed past the wrong side of the top of the left hand post. On 35 minutes an excellent flowing move by Windscale cut redcar Athletic open and the ball came to Matthew Semphill again, this inside the right hand side of the area and he fired in a sharp low shot which forced keeper Jordan Lowrie to spring to his right at full stretch to get hand to it to turn it round the post for a corner kick. With a minute to go before half time Adam Preston was chopped to floor just outside the left hand side of the penalty area by Daniel Morgan was fortunate not to have received a yellow card. Adam Preston took the free kick curling it in low towards the goal and instead of connecting with it both Luke Wooodall and Sam Webster dummy jumped out of it's path. The ball looked all set to find the far right hand corner of the net but somehow despite being only able to see it very late in the day, keeper James Dolan managed to scoop it away with both hands.

          H-T Redcar Athletic 4 v 0 Windscale FC

Keeper James Dolan kept the score at 4-0 again in the 54th minute when after Jordan Rivis got onto the end of Jack Simpson low cross, he turned in-form midfielder's shot round the right hand post with his left foot. In the 58th minute Lance Skelton's curled ball forward fell into the path of Jack Simpson's run which put him in on goal, but yet again James Dolan came to Windscale's rescue when standing firm before once again using his left foot to deflect the incoming shot round the right hand post. On the hour mark Michael Woodhouse curled cross from the right into Windscale's penalty area was met with a flicked back header by Jack Simpson which just drifted inches past the left hand post. Redcar Athletic finally found the net for 5th goal in the 69th minute after Jordan Rivis seemed to take on half the opposition to make his way into box, only then to see his shot blocked but Bryan Stewart  then managed to get it by hook or crook, possibly with the aid of a deflection, to DANIEL DRAZDAUSKAS, who fired low into the net just inside the left hand post. With 12 minutes remaining Lance Skelton won possession of the ball just inside Windscale's half and his forward pass sent Daniel Drazdauskas clear in on goal. Once again James Dolan stood firm, but instead of shooting Daniel Drazdauskas surprised everyone when playing the forward across to his left for the racing in JACK SIMPSON to slide in just in time to boot it into the roof of the net as before the keeper get to it. On 82 minutes Jordan Rivis curled in a shot from 20 yards out which looked set to find the net but keeper James Dolan dived fully to his left to palm the shot away to stop Redcar Athletic from going 7-0 up. In the 90th minute after Lance Skelton was shown a yellow card for a foul an incident occured on the touchline which resulted in an official from each team's bench being dismissed and order to the changing rooms by the referee. When play resumed now in the 93rd minute Lewis Jolly burst into the Redcar Athletic penalty area after a great run down the right and he laid the ball across the 6 yard box for a simple tap in at the left hand post and giving his team-mate MATTHEW SEMPHILL, the goal he most probaly deserved.
